Direct Edge to Launch Operation in Brazil

As reported by The Wall Street Journal, electronic stock-market operator Direct Edge became the second major U.S. exchange this year to unveil plans for a Brazilian stock market, adding another potential challenge to Brazil’s dominant market operator BM&F Bovespa.

The Jersey City, N.J.-based firm said Monday it plans to launch Direct Edge Brazil in the fourth quarter of next year in a venture that would customize the company’s technology for the Brazilian market.
